Corporate Spotlight: New York Life

Joy Wong is an award-winning, longstanding, dedicated advocate for supplier diversity.  She is widely recognized for her unrelenting work in the field. Most recently, the Women’s Presidents’ Educational Organization, New York (WPEO NY) bestowed Joy with the 2019 Outstanding Women’s Business Advocate Award. Her commitment to supplier diversity encompasses participation as a mentor, advisor, panel speaker, facilitator, program contributor, developer, and sponsor.

Joy, a corporate vice president at New York Life Insurance Company, has been responsible for its Supplier Diversity Program since 2011. She ensures that corporate participation involves senior leadership representation from procurement and stakeholders at various national and local events, which include several annual supplier diversity events hosted at the company headquarters.  She joined New York Life more than 20 years ago. Her previous roles include managing New York Life’s corporate dining program, strategic sourcing, corporate travel, corporate card program, and budget and financial analysis.

Joy is a member of the board of directors for the New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, where she is the immediate past treasurer and chair of the finance committee.  She served on the Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity Board and is the immediate past chair of the membership and engagement committee.

Joy is an active partner to various national and New York-based supplier diversity advocacy organizations.  She has been a corporate mentor in The Council AcCelerate 2020 CEO Academy since its inception in 2017, and in the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Mentor/Protégé Program for five years.
