Joy Wong is a Corporate Vice President and Head of Supplier Diversity at New York Life Insurance Company. Since 2011, she has worked to enhance opportunities for MBEs and foster diverse supply chains through internal partnerships with her New York Life colleagues across various departments and leadership roles. Wong’s efforts led to an increase in New York Life’s diverse suppliers from a 22% to an 85%+ inclusion rate.
At the highest levels, New York Life CEO/Chairman, Board of Directors, and Executive Management Committee receive supplier diversity updates annually and are committed to increasing opportunities for minority-owned businesses. The formation of New York Life’s Supplier Diversity Advisory Council in January of 2019 has helped increase internal awareness and advocacy of the program.
Most recently, New York Life won The Council’s 2020 National Corporation of the Year Award and Wong won the 2020 NY & NJ MSDC Advocate of the Year Award. The Women’s Presidents’ Educational Organization, New York (WPEO NY) bestowed her with the 2019 Outstanding Women’s Business Advocate Award. Wong’s commitment to supplier diversity encompasses participation as a mentor, advisor, panel speaker, facilitator, program contributor, developer, and sponsor.
In addition to the company’s long corporate partnership with NMSDC at the national level, they have maintained sponsorship of the Council at the silver level for more than 15 years. New York Life provides executive coach and mentor support via various Council programs Wong has served on the NY&NJ MSDC Board for the last 5 years.
