A MESSAGE FROM THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Terrance Clark
As we celebrate the accomplishments of minority women entrepreneurs during Women History Month, The Council finalized its Strategic Plan for 2016, which emphasizes developing more opportunities for business growth for our MWBEs through mentorship programs and business development opportunities. This edition of our newsletter includes information on New York State government initiatives and programs geared toward increasing MWBE participation in contract opportunities throughout the State.

In addition, you will find information on contract opportunities that will arise from the transformation of New York's Penn Station, slated to be one of the largest projects in many years that will require the participation of various types of businesses in its redevelopment. In February, we attended the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus in Albany, and met with various state officials to increase alignment with their MWBE programs. We feel that this public/private partnership can lead to increased business opportunities for our MWBE constituents in our market area.

We would like to thank all of our corporate members that attended the first quarterly meeting of 2016. We hope that the information gleaned demonstrates our vision for The Council in 2016 and future years. Please provide us with any information that you feel can further the work that we do, as we look forward to our continued collaboration.

Terrence Clark, President & CEO
