A MESSAGE FROM THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT

On behalf of the New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, best wishes for the New Year as we look forward to your continued partnership and participation in 2016. As in previous years, the Council will continue to develop programs that enhance access to capital opportunities, provide business management and development information, expand its services and information to corporate members and host several industry-specific events to accelerate the connection between MBEs and corporate members.

Over the course of this year, we will introduce webinars to enhance the supplier diversity programs of our corporate members. We will also offer a variety of industry-specific workshops geared toward matching vendors with potential contract opportunities from our corporate members. We appreciate your support of the Council and look forward to providing more topical information that will lead to the continued growth of certified minority businesses and the supplier diversity programs of our corporate members and partners. All the best to you, your family and your business this year and beyond.

That would tap into an estimated $65 billion in annual contracts and would cover school districts, cities, counties towns and villages.

Why your Elevator Pitch is important, and how to master it

An Elevator Pitch is a quick, well-crafted (and often memorized) speech designed to sell a product, or yourself, in a very short time frame. It's name, often credited to Ilene Rosenzweig and Michael Caruso, is derived from the idea of bumping into a senior staff member in an elevator and having to try and win them over by the time they've reached their floor.
