A TRIBUTE TO BLACK HISTORY
The New York and New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (The Council), established in 1973, is a vital link between major corporations and minority business enterprises (MBEs). Each year, member corporations have reported billions of dollars spent with Council-certified Minority Business Enterprises.
Serving the New York and New Jersey region, The Council is one of the 24 regional affiliates of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (NMSDC). Supplier Groups include Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American businesses located throughout the state of New York and Northern and Central New Jersey including Trenton. This year The Council will recognize each of our ethnic minority business groups during their celebratory calendar month. This month is Black History month and we pay tribute to our Black Owned Businesses by reflecting on the excellence and success of our Council certified Black MBEs doing business in our service area.
On February 24, 2015, BNY Mellon will host a forum which will focus on The State of Black owned Businesses in the New York and New Jersey Region in general and The Council network specifically. The forum will begin with a plenary discussion engaging key stakeholders including Joset Wright-Lacy, NMSDC, Walter Maxwell, NYC and others followed by a panel discussion, both facilitated by Ms. I. Javette Hines, Citi. Black Owned Council certified businesses represented on the panel will include: Mitchell & Titus, LLP, Diversant, LLC, BCT Partners LLC, The McKissack Group, Inc., Penda Aiken, Inc. and Technology Concepts Group Int’l, LLC. You don’t want to miss the stories of their journey to success, the struggles they have encountered and the growth strategies they will share to help you take your business to the next level.
Please plan to join us! We look forward to seeing you at this very important event that will help to shape the future direction of The Council.
Dr. Julia M Presley, NYNJ MSDC Interim Vice President of Operations
