2020 Black History Month

This Black History Month, February 1 through February 29, 2020, propels us into a new decade of opportunities, and a season of communication and collaboration. It’s time for us to work harder to diminish hatred in our nation and increase peace, to eliminate negative racial stereotypes and perpetuate positive role models. We at The Council believe that earnest communication and consistent collaboration create harmony and generate more economic opportunities for everyone.

When we communicate – from opening salutation to a closing sales pitch – we must be caring and sensitive about each other’s cultures, experiences, and needs. For 47 years, The Council has been an effective matchmaker between minority business enterprises (MBEs) and our corporate members. This work intensifies with each new year. We believe the impact we make on the economy through our successful matchmaking, networking and collaboration opportunities touches all parts of American life.

Today we celebrate invaluable centuries of contributions and sacrifices that African Americans have made to the economic prosperity of the United States. We salute the triumphs of great Black men and women like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Harriet Tubman, U.S. President Barack Obama, and astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, and so many others. We also recognize the continuing struggles that African Americans endure to obtain parity in our country’s doctors’ offices, emergency rooms, courtrooms, classrooms, and boardrooms.

Through intentional communication and collaboration, we will keep fostering relationships between MBEs, corporate members and public agencies, while identifying procurement opportunities for prime suppliers and subcontractors.

Join us this month and all year, as we embrace the outstanding contributions of African American-owned businesses to the overall well-being of our nation.

Sincerely,

Terrence Clark
