Shortly after the event-packed June, The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council held two moremajor networking events for its certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Corporate Members. Our reoccurring event, Biz Connect along with our new Upstate Xchange allowed members to connect and develop potential business opportunities in the month of August.
Biz Connect, August 7th, 2017 – Our 3rd Biz Connect event at Clyde Frazier’s Wine and Dine was a huge success; not even the rain could stop our MBEs and Corporate Members from filling up the restaurant as we gathered for a casual night of networking. With hor d’oeuvres, drinks, and friendly conversations, this year’s Biz Connect was as successful as ever. We would like to congratulate Shannon Morales, the winner of the free throw contest. Her gift, an autographed ball from Clyde Frazier, was awarded at the end of the night.
Upstate Conference and Xchange, August 15th-16th, 2017 – The Council was excited to present its first Upstate New York Regional Conference & Xchange. This event was designed to bring awareness to the needs of corporate America and government entities in securing mi
nority owned businesses and the challenges faced by firms in obtaining contracting opportunities in Upstate New York. It took place at Wegmans Conference Center in Rochester, NY and featured speakersfrom government and private corporations, workshops, an opening reception at Next Door Bar & Grill, and matchmaking opportunities where businesses can meet one-one with corporate buyers. Modeled after the annual
Business Opportunity Exchange we organize every year, the Upstate
Conference and Xchange was our answer to the call from our Upstate New York members who felt that there were not enough events happening in their area. We hope to organize more events upstate in the future.
