MBE Spotlight: Ongweoweh

Ongweoweh Corp is a Native American-owned, pallet management company that provides pallet and packaging procurement, recycling services, and supply chain optimization programs. The company, headquartered in Ithica, New York, also offers custom reporting along with data and trend analysis for a very diverse customer base of Fortune 500 companies. Since Ongweoweh was founded in 1978 by Frank Bonamie, a member of the Cayuga Indian Nation of New York, the company has become one of the most successful privately owned Native-American enterprises in the U.S.  and the most highly regarded resource in the pallet and packaging management industry.

Ongweoweh provides innovative ideas and creative solutions to meet the challenging needs of its customers. Its signature real-time tracking software NativeTrax™ is used to facilitate the retrieval and reuse of platforms. The company makes more than $168 million in annual sales and has facilities in four states, plus Mexico and Canada.

Now, led by President Justin M. Bennett, Ongweoweh Corp. continues to maintain and promote its rich Native-American heritage. Bennett’s Native roots run deep, with both parents stemming from Haudenosaunee from the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, located about 30 miles southwest of Buffalo, N.Y. His father is Seneca of the Deer clan and his mother is Cayuga of the Turtle clan.

Ongweoweh strives to abide by its core values that include integrity, respect, accountability and stewardship, in addition to the values of the “Seventh Generation” philosophy derived from the Iroquois Great Law of Peace. These principles have long been the foundation of this thriving minority business enterprise.
